Free screeners, accounts and paid screening

Screening privacy information updated: 14 September 2026. This section explains how Dyslexia Test Centre Ltd (DTC), including ND Pathways, uses information from our free dyslexia, neurodiversity and maths screeners, saved screener accounts, and £149 and £299 screening services. DTC is responsible for deciding how this information is used. Contact Helen Walker or Jeanette Butterworth at learn@dyslexiatestcentre.co.uk or 0331 630 0583 about your information.

What the screeners collect

  • Your details: the name you provide, your email address, the person’s profile name, the age group or screening route selected, and relevant learning, work or study context.
  • Responses and results: questionnaire answers, activities completed or skipped, scores or response summaries where the screener uses them, areas of reported difficulty, and completion dates. These may concern reading, writing, numbers, attention, organisation, communication, sensory experiences, coordination or emotional regulation.
  • Information you choose to add: strengths, priorities, support needs, existing or reported diagnoses, previous or pending assessments, current support, and goals or review dates. Please provide only information relevant to the screening and avoid naming other people unnecessarily.
  • For paid screening: the participant’s name, who completes the questionnaire and their relationship to the participant, background and access needs, saved drafts, submitted responses and consent confirmation. We also keep the service purchased, payment references and status, booking updates, appointment details, assessor notes, draft and approved reports, recommendations, and the reviewer’s identity and approval date.
  • For enhanced screening: the assessor may record the editions and results of selected tests, relevant scores, observations and interpretation. The report includes fields for CTOPP Phonological Memory and Rapid Symbolic Naming composite scores; TOMAL MFs, DF, LF, LB and DB; TOWRE real-word and pseudoword reading; and DASH free writing. A test not administered should be explained in the report. We do not collect these test results through the free questionnaires.
  • Service and security records: sign-in and session credentials stored in protected form, expiry times, email-delivery status and retry records, and technical information needed to operate and protect the website. Sign-in abuse prevention uses information derived from your email address and IP address; hosting services also process connection and request information.
  • Your choices: whether you request an email report, choose to save results, submit a paid questionnaire or opt in to optional marketing.

When answers stay on your device and when they are sent to us

You answer the free screeners in your browser. Some progress, such as an unfinished dyslexia screener and your selected profile, may be kept in that browser’s session storage. The optional notes on the standalone maths results page stay on your device unless you include them in something you choose to share. Browser-held progress is different from a saved account record and may be lost when you close a tab or clear browser data.

Information is sent to our service when you request an emailed report or save results to an account. For the free neurodiversity quiz, saving requires a separate explicit consent choice, even when signed in. Other free screeners can save their answers and results against the selected profile when completed while signed in. If you start sign-in after completing a screener, the details you ask us to save may be held temporarily while you verify your email and choose the correct profile.

  • Dyslexia email summaries: we save the name and email you enter, selected audience and context, overall and section scores, result band, optional marketing choice and email-delivery status.
  • Maths email reports: we save the email address, selected route, responses, support summary, report version, request date and marketing choice, including the wording of that choice.
  • Neurodiversity email reports: your name, email and answers are processed to prepare and send the requested summary. This email request does not itself create a saved account result; the message and delivery information are processed by the email services involved.
  • Saved free reports: we store the profile, screener type, completed answers, completion date and any additional report notes you save. The account normally shows the latest saved result for each screener and person. Replacing that result does not delete separate email-request records or paid screening cases.
  • Paid questionnaires: choosing “Save progress” stores your unfinished questionnaire in your paid case so you can return later. Submission records the completed questionnaire and consent confirmation for assessor review.

Why we use this information

We use it to provide the screener or service you request, prepare your summary, help you return to saved results, understand relevant background, arrange appointments, support the assessor’s review, produce and release reports, communicate necessary service updates, administer payments and refunds, and protect accounts from misuse.

Screening answers and reports may reveal health, disability or neurodevelopmental information. This is sensitive personal information, sometimes called special category data. It should be provided only by the person concerned or someone authorised to act for them. Optional background information can be left blank. Where a service requires particular information to proceed, the form identifies it; contact us if you would prefer to discuss an alternative way of providing it.

Where we ask for your consent to a particular use, you can withdraw it by contacting us. Withdrawal does not undo processing already carried out lawfully. We will explain how it affects an unfinished service and whether any records still need to be retained.

Free neurodiversity quiz: consent and age

DTC requires independent participants to be aged 16 or over and to complete this quiz about themselves. Under-16s should ask a parent or guardian to contact DTC about suitable support. This is a service policy, not a claim that 16 is a universal legal consent age.

You can view neurodiversity results in your browser without choosing to save or email them. For optional storage and emailing of health-related answers, we ask for explicit consent under Article 6(1)(a) and Article 9(2)(a). We retain the current consent wording version, the recorded acceptance time and the relevant choice with saved results; for email requests, we retain your email address and consent evidence with a server receipt time. These records help us demonstrate your choice. No date of birth or identity document is requested for this acknowledgement.

To withdraw this consent or request deletion, email learn@dyslexiatestcentre.co.uk. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful use. A separate basis may apply to records we must retain; we will explain any exception when handling your request. This specific consent arrangement does not describe all other DTC services.

Parents, carers and separate profiles

For a child, use a parent’s or authorised carer’s email address. An account can contain separate named profiles for different people. Please check the selected person before saving answers. Someone with access to the verified account can see the profiles and saved results within it.

A paid screening report is available to the account using the email address entered at checkout. If you are buying for another adult, or on behalf of a school or employer, contact us before providing their sensitive information so that appropriate authority and report access can be agreed. Purchasing a service does not by itself establish another person’s consent to share their information.

Who processes or receives the information

  • DTC: authorised personnel use information needed to deliver and administer the service. The paid screening reviewer area is restricted to approved assessor accounts. Paid report drafts are not shown to the customer; the approved report is released to the purchaser’s verified account.
  • Cloudflare: provides this website’s hosting, screener database and transactional email infrastructure. These services process the records, messages and technical information needed for their respective functions.
  • Stripe: handles payment details entered at checkout. Our screening system receives the checkout email, payment references, service information and payment or refund status. It does not store your full card number or card security code. Questionnaire answers and report contents are not included in the payment confirmation used by the screening system.
  • Microsoft Bookings: handles appointment bookings and confirmations using details you enter, such as your name, email, telephone number and booking-form responses. DTC checks the booking and records relevant appointment updates in the paid screening case. The website does not automatically send your questionnaire or report to Bookings.
  • Email services: process messages sent to the address supplied. A requested free screener email can contain the result summary; an emailed saved free report can include the notes you have saved. Paid report-ready notifications contain a link to sign in, rather than the report itself. Please use a private email address that you are authorised to access.
  • People you ask us to involve: where appropriate and with agreed authority or consent, we may share relevant information with a parent or carer, school, college, university, employer, clinician or specialist workplace partner. Paid screening does not automatically send a report to an employer or education provider. Disclosure may also be necessary where required by law or to address a safeguarding concern.

These providers operate internationally and processing may take place outside the UK. Their own privacy information describes their services and international processing: Cloudflare, Stripe and Microsoft. Contact DTC for information about the arrangements applicable to your records.

Automated summaries and professional review

The free screeners use programmed rules to summarise your responses, such as totals, response areas or support indicators. These summaries depend on the information you provide. They are not diagnoses and do not determine eligibility for employment, education, benefits or exam arrangements. Paid screening reports require an assessor’s review and approval; the software does not invent psychometric results or automatically make a diagnosis.

Service emails and optional marketing

Requesting a report, creating an account or buying a screening service does not automatically subscribe you to marketing. Sign-in links, requested reports, payment instructions and report-ready notifications are service communications. Where offered, follow-up advice and marketing require a separate optional choice. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or contact DTC to change your preference.

Storage, access and deletion

Saved screener and paid case records are held in the hosted database, separate from any assessment records held in DTC’s other record systems. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and account sessions after 30 days. These access limits do not mean that your answers or reports are deleted after those periods.

We retain screening information according to the purpose for which it is needed: providing and returning to a requested service, maintaining an appropriate professional record, dealing with corrections or complaints, and meeting applicable accounting, safeguarding or legal requirements. Different records may need different retention periods. Contact us for the period applicable to your screening record or to request deletion.

Deleting a free screener profile removes that profile and its current saved results from the account. It does not automatically erase separate email-request records, paid cases, financial records, messages already delivered to an inbox or any backup copies. Contact us if you want a wider deletion request considered. A submitted paid questionnaire or released report cannot be silently overwritten by the customer; tell us about corrections so they can be handled with a clear record.

Cookies and shared devices

Signing in uses an essential session cookie to keep your account accessible. Browser storage also supports selected profiles and some unfinished screener progress. These features are used for the service, not as marketing consent. Sign out when using a shared device and keep downloaded, printed or emailed reports private. Copies you save outside the website are not removed when you delete a profile here.

Your rights and how to contact us

You can ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restricted use, and a portable copy where applicable. You can object to uses based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing. These rights depend on the circumstances; if we cannot fulfil a request in full, we will explain why. We may need to verify your identity and authority before disclosing or changing someone’s records.
