Online dyslexia assessments for children and adults

A starting point for your questions, not a diagnosis.
Before you book
Children under eight: assessment is not automatic. Please contact us to discuss whether assessment now, early support or a later review would suit your child.
Online assessment: if you are non-speaking (non-verbal), use alternative communication or have additional support needs, please contact us first. We can discuss reasonable adjustments or whether an in-person or specialist assessment would be more suitable.
We consider individual needs. An existing diagnosis, trauma or disability does not automatically exclude you.

Tell us about any communication support, interpreter or accessibility needs before booking. If we cannot meet your needs through this pathway, we will discuss alternative services or timing.
We usually recommend dyslexia assessment from age eight. For younger children, we consider their development, learning experience and support needs individually.

Using Bupa? Follow the dedicated assessment route. Bupa assessment reports usually take approximately 2 weeks after the assessment.

What does it explore?
A dyslexia assessment looks at reading and writing alongside the underlying skills involved in learning. Your experiences and background help the assessor interpret the results in context.

Dyslexia testing: choosing the right next step
Screening or diagnostic assessment?
A free dyslexia screener helps you explore possible indicators and decide whether to ask for further advice. A diagnostic assessment is a separate appointment with a specialist assessor, considering test results and background information together. Screening alone cannot confirm dyslexia.
Specialist assessors and a written report
DTC’s dyslexia assessments are delivered by APC-qualified specialist assessors. The report brings together your learning history, test findings and recommendations. You can read about our founders, Helen Walker and Jeanette Butterworth, and their experience before contacting us.
How much does dyslexia testing cost?
Book a free 15-minute consultation to discuss the appropriate assessment, current fees and what is included before booking. If you are using Bupa, confirm your policy cover and obtain an SpLD pre-authorisation code before arranging the assessment.
